Our Parish Priest

 

Fr Mark Moran, originally from the Northwest of England, worked as a baker, chef, and school bursar before entering seminary. He joined Clifton Diocese in September 2002 after four years of training in Valladolid and Rome. To familiarise himself with the diocese, he spent his first year at Sacred Hearts in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, and supported the Diocesan Safeguarding Office in Bristol. He completed his seminary studies with a Mission Theology Degree in London and was ordained at Clifton Cathedral in July 2005. After a year as an assistant priest at Holy Rood in Swindon, he became parish priest at St Thomas More in Cheltenham from 2006 to 2008

In September 2008, he became parish priest of Christ the King in Amesbury, where he oversaw a significant refurbishment of the church and site. In September 2017, he took on the role of parish priest at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Charlton Kings.

Beyond pastoral duties, Fr Mark has served as a school chaplain, governor (including vice chair and chair), treasurer of the National Conference of Priests of England and Wales, and chaplain for Fanning the Flame.

Known for his straightforward approach, he is deeply committed to prayer, adoration, and helping others encounter God through his community service.

On 1st September 2025, he became the parish priest at the Shrine of Our Lady St Mary of Glastonbury.
