Contemplative Prayer Group

From 9th May 2024, the Contemplative Prayer Group, led by Helen Marquis, will meet every Thursday at the United Reformed Church, High Street, from 2.30pm.

There is a short introduction - from the Desert Fathers, Benedict, Ignatius of Loyola, the Carmelites - Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Brother Lawrence (The Practice of the Presence of God) and more, followed by half an hour’s silence - after which there will be an opportunity for sharing.

Sometimes we practise different ways of meditating, and have the opportunity of reflecting on the process of meditation - how to deal with distractions, difficult feelings. . . Come when you can.
